Nothing can harm your mind, because your mind is nothing. Nobody knows what's going on in your head. You are totally free to be totally free. Surrender thinking you need to protect your ego. Ego is merely a concept with no permanent substantiality. As long as there is one to suffer, he or she will.
The word Buddha comes from the Sanskrit word Bodhi, which means "awake". It means being conscious of your consciousness. And Buddhahood is the ultimate realization of that One Mind, beyond any illusion or desire that thinks you need anything to be complete. On complete & ultimate enlightenment the Buddha gained nothing. He merely awakened to the realization of Mind/ Nirvana. Nirvana is said to be merely, the end of error.

One of the basic beliefs of Buddhism is that our suffering & discontentment is caused by our attachments & desires. We think we need something more to be OK or to be fulfilled. But the irony is that there is never any more than there is at any given moment. So we have to learn to be fulfilled in this moment. And this just happens to be the only place that we ever experience our life, in this eternal nowness. The only difference between the enlightened person & the ignorant is how they see & be in the world. So to move beyond the false premise that you need something more to be OK, is the transmutation that will take you to the Pure Land. Rebirth is certainly one of the common themes of most spiritual traditions.
And they say that the Winter Solstice celebration at this time has been observed for over 10,000 years since the Neolithic time with Stonehenge & others.
I try to focus on awareness or consciousness, because that's where all these ideas of spirituality take place. Your mind's luminous awareness is what your experience is. If one was born in India, you would most likely believe as a Hindu. Look behind all the stories & try to discover where these ideas & feelings take place. My first book was entitled, Mirror of Mind. Symmetry in action. I really don't know if there's anything to these numbers lining up, but it's always nice to be reminded of the magic of life. I decided that I would go down by the creek close to my studio here in Boulder. It's a beautiful day, so it was nice to be outside. I actually saw some tree silhouettes in the water reflected that actually sorted of looked like a row of ones (maybe I'll post later). And then when I was about to get back in the car, I looked up & saw these unusual clouds that also kind of looked like a row of the numeral one. Oh well, it is curious & fun to discover the unending symmetry & endless display in our cosmos. Enjoy your day & be the one. Cheers! -Russell
